“Our message remains again, to say that, Covid-19 remains a threat, it’s not over, and we cannot afford to drop all the prevention measures. We do not believe that it is the correct public health approach to say that, because there is a lot of immunity, that is natural immunity, or vaccine driven immunity, we must just let the virus spread.”

“We do not believe that this is the correct approach, because this will cause a lot of illness, a lot of distress amongst the people, individuals, and families and the community, at workplaces, but also we will have a very serious pressure on our health facilities, and our health workers who have borne the brunt of this pandemic.”

South Africa’s Health Minister Doctor Joe Phaahla, 29th April 2022, at 15.58 in the video.
