WHO: The End Is Nigh

Tedros Ghebreyesus: “We have never been in a better position to end the pandemic – we are not there yet, but the end is in sight.”..

In the same statement, though, the WHO director made recommendations to governments that make it clear that the pandemic is far from over:

Plan for surges of cases, and make sure you have the supplies, equipment and health workers you will need

Maintain infection prevention and control precautions to protect health workers and non-COVID patients in health facilities

and so on….

Just one week earlier, however, this was the message from the WHO:

So it’s beginning to look like the “end of the pandemic” statement may have been released to simply divert attention away from the bombshell report by the Lancet COVID-19 Commission into the mishandling of the pandemic, published the following day.
