Austria is the first country in the EU to impose a corona vaccination obligation. As Federal Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg (ÖVP) said on Friday, this mandatory vaccination will be law from February 2022.

Although the last measures imposed had increased the vaccination rate, this was still not sufficient, Schallenberg emphasized after consultations with the provincial governors. Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens) emphasized that compulsory vaccination will help in the long term.
