“The National Emergency Response Command, as the entry of the malicious virus has been confirmed, is alerting us to weather phenomena, including wind, and unusual objects flying from balloons in the demarcation line and border areas, thoroughly explaining the source, and reporting immediately upon discovery.”

On June 30, the National Emergency Response Command announced the results of an investigation into the entry route of a malicious virus that has rapidly spread in Korea since the end of April.

As a result of the investigation, around mid-April, fever symptoms began to appear among several personnel coming up from Ipo-ri, Geumgang-gun, Gangwon-do.  A problem was raised.

In addition, it was confirmed that other diseases were the cause of fever in all regions and units of the country except for this region by mid-April, and there was no case of cluster fever.

Accordingly, a scientific conclusion was reached that Ipo-ri, Geumgang-gun, was the first area of malignant disease.

According to a multifaceted, anatomical, and comprehensive investigation and analysis of the factors that lead to loathing, in early April, in Ipo-ri, a soldier Kim (18 years old) and a kindergartener Wimo (5 years old) came into contact with unusual objects at the barracks and in the hills near the villagers. In these cases, clinical features that can be seen as early symptoms of malignant virus infection appeared, and the novel coronavirus antibody test was also positive.

The investigation committee scientifically and finally confirmed that the first malicious virus was introduced into the Ipo-ri region of Geumgang-gun according to the clinical characteristics, epidemiological links, and antibody test results shown in the fever patients.

The National Emergency Response Command, as the entry of the malicious virus has been confirmed, is alerting us to weather phenomena, including wind, and unusual objects flying from balloons in the demarcation line and border areas, thoroughly explaining the source, and reporting immediately upon discovery. It was ordered to issue emergency instructions to further strengthen the quarantine and epidemiological measures, such as strengthening the all-people monitoring and reporting system, and strictly collecting and disposing of the emergency quarantine units.
