BNONews are reporting that the USA has recorded 926,693 new Covid cases today, a new 7 day record. That figure is higher than the peak of any previous GLOBAL wave before Omicron.
The numbers given on OurWorldinData.org are slightly different to the BNOnews figures, and they are yet to update their website for the 15th January 2021. If the figure of 926,693 cases is verified however, it would be higher than any previous global peak during the entire pandemic before Omicron. The previous global record was 905,840 cases on 24th April 2021.
As you can see below, the current global wave is now more than THREE TIMES as high as any previous wave.
