A fifth round of Covid vaccinations is under consideration in Israel, according to the Jerusalem Post.

“Due to the increase in the COVID-19 morbidity rate, Israel’s epidemic treatment team will convene on Wednesday to discuss a fifth coronavirus vaccine for at-risk populations, KAN reported.

According to KAN, a third vaccine for Israelis ages five-to-12 is also being considered. It would be optional. Medical staff would be obligated to receive a second or third dose.”

Covid-19 cases in Israel are seeing a slight uptick:

Covid-19 hospitalizations are flat for now…

Covid-19 deaths are still at a low level too:

Israel only announced its fourth round of Covid vaccinations in January 2022, just five months ago.  In calling for more booster vaccinations now, it looks like Israel are already preparing for a winter Covid wave where immunity from existing vaccinations has waned, and where new SARS-CoV-2 variants may have succeeded in bypassing four vaccinations.

Is two or even three Covid vaccinations a year really a sustainable policy?
