Scotland: Delta runs rampant – record high coronavirus infection numbers for second day in a row

The Scottish Government has said that Scotland has recorded the highest number of daily coronavirus cases since the start of the coronavirus pandemic for the second day in a row. There were five deaths and 2999 new coronavirus cases on the 24th June 2021.

On Wednesday 23rd June, the number of new cases rose to 2989, with the previous record standing at 2649 on January 7, 2021.

It means the death toll under this daily measure – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – now stands at 7706.
