The latest figures from the UK Covid App, Joinzoe, show the extent of Omicron infections in London, and the outward spread of the variant from London to all other parts of the country.
London is showing an Omicron infection rate that is nearly twice as high as any other part of the UK. It’s perhaps hardly surprising that a highly infectious Covid variant like Omicron would find it easier to spread in crowded towns and cities.

What is without doubt is that this variant will spread widely across the UK within days, and will engulf Europe and the rest of the world within weeks.
