Denmark: BA.5 set to outcompete BA.2 this week

Denmark’s latest Covid-19 weekly trends report has just been published, and it shows a big increase in BA.5 infections over the past week. Last week, BA.5 infections represented 16.88% of genome sequences. This week, that same figure stands at 28.57% of total sequences. BA.5 is now within a whisker of outcompeting BA.2 which stands at 29.64% of sequences.

 

 

Denmark is seeing an uptick of Covid-19 in cases across all age ranges:

 

There is an increase of SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater testing from right across Denmark. A new wave of the disease is looking highly likely.
