Denmark’s SSI has revealed that the vast majority of people currently infected with the Omicron variant are double or triple vaccinated. SEE 17 UPDATES BELOW
On the 13th December 2021, an SSI report shows that the double vaccinated represent 75% of Omicron patients, and the booster jabbed represent another 8.9% of patients, making a combined total of 83.9%. The unvaccinated represent 13.8% of patients.
UPDATE 1 – 14th December 2021 – figures from Denmark’s SSI show the situation has actually deteriorated since the last report, and on the 14th December 2021, 88% of Omicron cases are double or triple vaccinated:
UPDATE 4 – 17th December 2021 – The Omicron infection rate for double and triple vaccinated people in Denmark increased to 89%:
There’s a fairly large increase in Omicrons infections for those who are triple vaccinated. In just three days, the figure for Omicron breakthroughs in the triple vaccinated has risen from 8.9% to 10.3%, and for Delta (“other variants”), the rate has increased from 4% to 7.3%.
It’s also worth noting the increasing vaccine breakthrough rate for Delta (“other variants”) in the double and triple vaccinated, which, in three days, has increased from 72.6% to 73.3% (66% + 7.3%) up to the 17th December 2021.
There are now less cases of Omicron in the unvaccinated than there are in the triple jabbed.
‘Report on the Omikron variant’ will not be published on 22 December, due to technical challenges. We expect the report to be published again on 23 December.
The triple vaccinated (“revaccinated”) are making up an increasing percentage of Omicron cases. Their proportion of the caseload has increased by around three percentage points in just one week.
UPDATE 12 – 27th December 2021
The SSI Omicron report was published today, , with the message “Vaccination status is missing in today’s report due to technical problems.”
This report shows a very large increase in infections in the triple vaccinated (“revaccinated”). The figure has almost doubled in just 18 days, from 8.9% on 13th December to 17.7% today.
The SSI Omicron report will also now only be published three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, so we will update accordingly on those days.
UPDATE 15 – 3rd January 2022 – The Omicron infection rate for double and triple vaccinated people in Denmark is 88.9%:
Some unusual changes in this report – Omicron infections in the double vaccinated have increased by 10% in three days, but have decreased in the revaccinated from 17.7% to 6.2% in the same timeframe.
UPDATE 16 – 5th January 2022 – The Omicron infection rate for double and triple vaccinated people in Denmark is 88.4%:
1) “As of 3rd of January 2022, data on vaccination status is changed and the groups ‘Completed primary schedule’ and ‘Revaccinated’ only includes people with expected full effect defined as 14 days after vaccination.” *
* This is presumably why the number of Omicron infections in the “revaccinated” column dropped from 7,330 on 31st December 2021 to 2,963 on the 3rd January 2022 *
FINAL UPDATE 17 – 7th January 2022 – The Omicron infection rate for double and triple vaccinated people in Denmark is 88.2%:
“January 5, 2022: As omikron now accounts for more than 90% of the confirmed cases, the omikron report will be phased out after Friday 7 January. As part of the phasing out, per. January 5, 2022, do not include data on hospitalizations and deaths in the omikron report.”

“It is of concern that 83% of cases occurred in fully or booster-vaccinated people. Whether this observation is an artefact as the major superspreading events and subsequent chains of transmission have occurred primarily in young adults, and not yet spread to children, who have not been vaccinated, is still too early to say. The data are too immature to allow analysing the cases by vaccine type. However, it can be mentioned that 76% of the Danish population are fully vaccinated and 84% of these have received Comirnaty (Pfizer/BioNTech, Mainz, Germany/ New York, United States) followed by 14% with Spikevax (Moderna, Cambridge, United States). “
This report also shows that just 4.3% of people with a previous PCR positive test are being reinfected with Omicron:
RELATED INFORMATION: The latest vaccination status for Denmark shows 80.7% of the population are vaccinated with 2 doses, and about 30% of those have been revaccinated with a booster shot. About 15% of the population are not vaccinated at all.
From these figures, it seems that there is practically zero protection from Omicron for the double vaccinated (with any of the vaccines), and that there is some protection against Omicron for those who have had a booster dose *at the moment*.
